Fantastic Ass Friday (FAF)

The Ides of March has passed and spring time is upon us.  I love that it has been warmer than normal.  I HATE the cold weather.

Thanks to all that voted last week.  The winner is posted to the right. This week I am going with a sitting theme.  I hope you enjoy the choices.

I hope you all have a great weekend and the weather where you are is nice so you can get out and enjoy it.

BDSM Hits Main Street

I was talking with my wife the other night (who is not into this scene for those that don't know that), and she started telling me about this book she was reading.  She said it was like any other book until...she got to a particular chapter.   (I can't remember if she said chapter 3 or 8)  Then the look on her face changed and she said "I had to stop and look to see if I was still reading the same book or if I was on your blog."  LOL!  All of a sudden things went BDSM apparently, and it caught her off guard.

Any guess on the book?

Yep, turns out she was reading "Fifty Shades of Grey".  This book seems to be getting a lot of attention lately, and has hit Main Street with full force.  It has been on several talk shows.  I have seen several blogs posts mentioning lately as well.  It is being read by our community as well as vanilla America.  It appears to be the acceptable version of women's erotica (porn), and an introduction to so many people about this lifestyle. It even got a whole article unto itself in the New York Times (see article here - a good read), where this book is referred to as "Mommy Porn" and "Twilight for grownups".  The book is "introducing women who usually read run-of-the-mill literary or commercial fiction to graphic, heavy-breathing erotica"  One part of the article even says... “What I found fascinating is that there are all these supermotivated, smart, educated women saying this was like the greatest thing they’ve ever read,” said Meg Lazarus, a 38-year-old former lawyer in Scarsdale".

The funny part about my wife is she said she has no desires whatsoever to do any of those things, which I already knew, but I looked at her and said..."But it turned you on didn't it?"  Maybe it was just the book, maybe it was the acts themselves, but on some level she knew she was aroused.  That didn't mean she wants to try it, but it touched her in some way.  Apparently it is touching a lot of people and making them look more at something they may have avoided previously.

So, this makes one wonder how many people out there will read this and get a better understanding of BDSM?   How many people will be even more turned off by it?  How many people will hide the hidden desires they find themselves having about BDSM?  Will be BDSM become more acceptable in the public view?  There are a lot of questions, and no real way to measure the answers.  Whatever the answers may be, it has brought this lifestyle to the forefront more than anything else in recent times.  Whether that is good for this community or bad remains to be seen.  We can all hope that it is a good thing in the end, but the feel so far is that it is a good thing.

(For the record, I have not read the book)

Choosing Your Path (More Stepping Stones)

In my last post (The Stepping Stones Of Life), one of the comments brought up a good point.  Kitty mentioned that we do have choices and we can carve our own path through life.  And yes, I do agree with her.  (don't tell her she might get the big head lol)  Actually, I think it is a combination of many things interwoven...fate, destiny, choice.  A mixture of all of this is what leads us down the path we are on.

Some things presented to us are outside of our control, while others are based on our choices.  It's how we handle and deal with the situations and people presented to us that direct us down the path of life.  We all have a conscious choice in how we deal with people.  We have a choice in how handle certain situations.  Life may be laid out before us, but it's our own choices that ultimately lay out the path we are on.

Many times things go bad.  Situations and relationships seem to fall apart.  It is easy to look back, see the problems, and wish you had done something differently.  Hindsight is always 20/20.  But we have to realize, in the moment of making a choice, it is made either spontaneously, based on emotion, based on some educated guess or experience, or a combination of all three.  Whatever the case, when that decision was made, at that point and time, it is what you wanted.  Even when things outside of our control are presented to us, it's the choices made and how you deal with them that define you.

The real problem is when we look back, have regrets and hard feelings and have a problem dealing with the situation.  Good or bad, we choose who to have by our side on our stepping stones.  You choose who to keep with you and who to leave behind.  There are times when those choices are right and sometimes they are wrong.  And sometimes we get stuck on a stone looking back and dwelling on what has been, rather than looking forward, taking your experiences with you, learning from them, and continuing to move forward.

There is nothing in the past you can change.  It has happened and will always be there.  It's how you deal with that matters.  Staying static and dwelling on the past , especially when the past is not so great, is a horrible way to live.  It can take all the strength you have to pick up your feet and leave it behind.  You should never forget, and should always learn from your experiences, but you shouldn't live in past moments and dwell upon them.  Live in the now and what you feel and hope lies ahead.

Don't get stuck on your stepping stone, looking back and regretting all you see.  Life is too short to be angry, miserable, upset and less than what you are capable.  Face forward, realize what you have now, where you are, and where you want to be, without forgetting where you have been.  Keep your chin up, hold your head high, and be proud of who you are.  There is only one you, so be the best you that you can be...for yourself and those you choose to let join you on your Steeping Stones of Life.

Fantastic Ass Friday (FAF)

I hope everyone has had a good week!  Last week's winner is posted to the right.  I can't say that I blame you all, as that is a great view...I mean...picture.  :)

This week I'm going to go with a light bondage theme.  I hope you all enjoy it.  I think I chose some good pictures for your consideration.  And as you know, I like making the choice for your vote a difficult one.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Stepping Stones Of Life

Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.  I'm one that believes everything happens for a reason.  Call it fate, or divine intervention, or whatever you like.  But, everything we go through and deal with has a purpose, and those people brought into our lives serve a purpose.  The bad part about it is that most of the time what we see and believe is our path typically isn't.  The way we hope for things to be, or think they will be, usually is not what is intended by the greater forces.  Many people and situations come into our life to prepare us for the next step.  They are stepping stones for what is to come.  However, we feel and believe the stepping stones have led to where we are which we want to be our firm foundation.  But in fact, most of the time it is just another stepping stone for what lies ahead.

My point is this...sometimes you have to be able to see the bigger picture and figure out what it is.  Are you and that someone meant to be in that bigger picture together?  Are you here as a stepping stone for each other?  Maybe your destiny is not to meet and be together, but to be shown more of you who and teach you a lesson for the future.  To make you stronger and better enable to be prepared for what lies ahead.  There is no way to know.  Only time will tell.  But you have to read the signs and take the road that is presented to you.  It's rarely the road we think, and it usually causes heartache and pain, but it is our path and the path we were meant to go down.

I am not a deeply religious person.  Honestly, when it comes to religion I don't know what I believe.  Yet, I do believe in the teachings of many religions as a guide for how you should act and how you should treat people in your life.  I think there is some greater force that has a plan.  All our decisions and all we have been through are part of what makes you who you are today.  It is all preparing you for what lies ahead.  Maybe you take the stepping stones to a final goal.  Maybe life is one continuous trail of stepping stones until you finally fall off the end and there is nothing left.

All we can do is live our lives to the best of our ability, take was is given to us and make the best of it, and learn from our experiences.  Maybe along the way you can help others that need some assistance in finding their next stone on which to plant their feet.  Lend a helping hand when you can, revel in the joys, take the heartache without letting it keep you down, and realize that it all has a purpose.  There will always be stumbling blocks on the road of life.  It's how you handle those stumbling blocks that define the person you are.

And that is my philosophical rambling for this Sunday morning.
